Peace...
How do we bring peace to our students...
Through Action...
We are representatives of Christ...
God has placed several people in our lives so we can be His hands and feet here on this earth... by helping them to learn about Christ for themselves.
Knowing Christ is what brings peace into our lives...
When I considered the different things we have studied tonight about the homeless children.... What kind of a difference can we make? They are our 8 to 15 that God has brought to us to minister to them about Him...
What is our role? When students are being put out on the streets because they no longer will bring income to the foster families they live with. What does that say to them...
What is the role of a teacher who doesn't live with them? We are there to teach them! We care, we simply care.
We care enough to say "how are you doing today?"
After carefully thinking about this I think it would be a good idea to have a place in the room where students can go to find peace if they are having a bad day. A place where they can go to sit, and relax, and find peace for a moment. A cozy corner, maybe with a beanbag chair.
I love the idea of students writing in a journal. The movie the Freedom Writers was an awesome example of how this practice of writing in a journal can heal and inspire students and help them. In this show the teacher showed her students how to do one thing at a time. Give them encouragement and let them know they are cared about. Listened to them. Prayed for them, and encourage them. We all need someone that cares enough to be there for us. God is always there for us, and He cares... unconditionally.
Lord, please work through us to heal your children, and help us to do your work in the way you want us to do. We love you, and ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
When I was a kid, I had a school counselor help me. I want to give back, by helping kids to feel encouraged by the adults in their life.
Dear Lord, please help our students to not feel alone, help us as teachers to supply the needs we can in a practical way. Like the parable If you give a man a fish he will eat for a day, but if you teach him to fish he will eat for a lifetime.
Lord, please give me the eyes to see and the ears to hear what you want me to do for those you bring into my life. Thank you for all you do, and all you are in our lives. In Jesus name, Amen
