What a wonderful name it is...
What a powerful name it is... the name of
Jesus Christ my King!
What a powerful name it is... the name of
Jesus Christ my King!
1 Corinthians 12:4-6 4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
We are all in the same family... in God's family. That makes us all family, doesn't it? Yes, it does. When God laid on my heart to come back to school, I wasn't quite sure if I could handle the work load, but God never leads us to something that He won't help us to accomplish. He is the King above all Kings! Now and forever He will rein...
When I look at the students I work with now, I am in awe of the differences, their attitudes, their smiles... Many are very innocent, very humble, very caring. We are here to do so much more then simply work a job from 9 to 5. We are here to minister to God's children. We are here to help them become who He designed them to become.
When our students need help, we are called to help them. There are days when students will come in and have an attitude, that happened a week ago. When I approached this young lady and asked her to move to a spot that she was allowed to have her Chromebook open, she responded with an attitude. I then told her to simply close it until she was willing to do as she was asked. A couple of days later she came in again, and sat next to someone looking at their Chromebook. I gently asked her to move away because she hadn't handled herself well the last time and needed to write me a paragraph explaining to me why she had chosen to not obey me on the issue of her Chromebook. (This is the short version. She is someone I have known for many years growing up.) She ended up writing me the paragraph, and in it she revealed that she had been in a class the day of our issue, and the teacher had handled something badly with her, and the class had laughed at her, and the teacher didn't do anything about it. She was very angry the day we struggled with the issue of the Chromebook. Instead of disciplining her that day I chose to wait and handle it later when she was in a better frame of mind. I know this young ladies heart, and this was unusual and not a reoccurring problem. I told her I was sorry for not realizing she was hurting the day of the incident, and told her I was sorry that had happened. These kids carry many hurts that we can't see on the outside of them, we simply don't know what they have gone through.
As a teacher we need to simply look beyond the behavior and attitude at times and look a little deeper to see what God is prompting us to do with the situation. And simply pray...
Dear Lord, please help us to become who you have designed us to become. Please work through us and help those you have put in our care. Thank you Lord, In Jesus name, Amen.
