Lord, This lesson touched my heart. I loved my dad and mom dearly. My mom went home to be with the Lord in 1999, my dad followed her in 2010. It's hard to describe the thankful peace I had because they had both accepted the Lord into their lives. For my dad it was only five weeks before he passed that he asked God into his life. I had prayed for five years during his struggle with cancer that the Lord would not take him until he was saved. I can't express the thankfulness I had when he asked to be baptized, and he spoke to a pastor and prayed with him, and asked Jesus into his life. Five weeks later, I held his hand as he passed, and I prayed over him. Today I ask God to give him a hug, and tell him I love him every time I hear a dove. He loved birds, and so do I. For some reason right after he passed I heard a dove and I knew he was ok.
Today I thank God for his tender mercies. He loves us so much, and He truly asks so little of us in return. I had printed this beautiful pamphlet out early this week, and I have read it a couple of times. For me, hearing it be read by Dr. Bacer, and her dad, warmed my heart. I know how she felt as she shared this very intimate journey with her dad. Thank you, Lord! I appreciate being able to reflect today on my own journey with my dad, and with the Lord.
I remember at one time in my life, I asked God to parent me, and help me to grow in my faith, and knowledge about Him. Today I am almost done with my Masters program, and I have to look back over the past several years leading up to this day. I am humbled at the many lessons He has taught, and walked with me as I grew in my faith, and knowledge.
One of my favorite verses is Phil. 4:13 NKJV I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Thank you Lord!
